Who we build and run applications for.

Starting point

Abteilung MLS des ZIM an der HHU Düsseldorf wanted to evaluate Kubernetes in practice, with Tobias Koch as the contact person and without building a platform organisation of its own straight away. The pilot was ILIAS for e-learning and exams: a real application for testing container operations, updates, recoverability and operating documentation.

The consulting produced a container operations strategy. It focused on clear responsibilities, standard procedures, runbooks, monitoring and logging, backup and restore, and a sound basis for choosing between operation by a provider, a hybrid model and running it in-house.

Our contribution

gh0stservice delivered the strategy work and the ILIAS pilot together. We set the pilot up as a production-ready proof of operations for an e-learning platform:

• containerisation of the ILIAS application and web components
• Helm chart for reproducible deployments and later updates
• deployment into a managed container environment on gh0stcloud
• database, persistent storage and backups connected
• an operating baseline with monitoring, logging, a restore concept and runbooks
• advice on operating organisation, ownership and the platform decision

Outcome

The department received two concrete outcomes: a delivered container operations strategy and an ILIAS pilot that shows how an e-learning and exam platform can be containerised, rolled out with Helm and operated in a managed environment.

Starting point

Ungers Archiv für Architekturwissenschaft needed a better workspace for internal documents, shared files, and distributed collaboration. Local systems made remote work, backup routines, and dependable access control harder than necessary.

Our contribution

The managed service for files and collaboration brought everything into one place:

• central file and document access
• role-based sharing for internal teamwork
• managed backups and restores
• less effort spent on local server maintenance and updates

Outcome

The team gained a stable working foundation without expanding responsibility for its own file-server operation. gh0stcloud handled the recurring platform work so the organisation could focus on its subject matter.

Starting point

Sieber Architekten needed better visibility over shared access and recurring security tasks. Distributed notes and informal processes were no longer appropriate for a growing team.

Our contribution

gh0stcloud provided a managed setup for shared access:

• central password and access area
• clearer permissions
• auditable changes and access events
• clear ownership of operations and backups

Outcome

The team gained a clearer way to handle sensitive access without operating its own security platform. gh0stcloud reduced operational overhead and made responsibilities visible.

Starting point

At Aug. Hülden GmbH + Co. KG, manual document processing consumed time and made workflows dependent on individual handling steps. The team wanted a more structured way to prepare incoming documents without building a separate application platform.

Our contribution

gh0stservice runs the document processing as a managed application on gh0stcloud:

• isolated operation of the document processing
• structured output for later subject-matter review
• operational logging and monitoring
• application maintenance without adding server responsibility for the customer

Outcome

Processing became more predictable and easier to control. gh0stcloud handled the platform layer while the customer team kept responsibility for review and approval.
