FAQ

Short answers to the questions we get asked most.

What is gh0stcloud?

A place to run your containerized applications without building and operating the platform underneath them. You bring a container image or a Helm chart; we run the servers, the updates, and the security controls. You ship changes through Git, and you see cost and application health in the portal.

Do I run my application myself, or do you?

Whichever you prefer. With Starter you deploy and manage releases yourself, guided by gh0stcli and your AI assistant. With Managed Applications we take on an agreed scope of deployment and administration work for you. Operating models sets out who is responsible for what in each.

Do I get full cluster admin access?

No, and that is deliberate. You work through the portal, through Git, and through gh0stcli. Handing out cluster admin would make it impossible to keep your environment reliably separated from everyone else's, and impossible for us to take responsibility for the platform. Anything the self-service path does not cover, you can request.

Can I use my own Git repository?

Yes. Your repository holds the desired state of your application, and the platform applies it. The allowed namespaces, hostnames, and secret references come from your account. The repository cannot grant itself more than your account has.

Can I keep my own container registry?

Usually yes, as long as the registry is reachable and permitted for your account. If a registry is blocked, the portal tells you, and you can request access.

Where is my data stored?

The platform is operated in Germany. Where your specific data is processed, how long it is kept, and which subcontractors are involved are set out in your customer agreement and the data-processing documentation. Those are the binding answers, not this page.

What does it cost to start?

Nothing. When you create the account you receive EUR 15 in starting credit and need no payment method to begin. It pays your first invoices, so you can try a small application and take your time working out whether it fits.

What happens when the credit runs out?

If a payment method is on file: nothing. The invoice is simply collected as normal.

Without one you get a warning first, then a grace period, and after that your applications are stopped. Your data is kept. Topping up or adding a payment method reverses that at any point. Deletion only follows if the retention period then also passes. The sequence is on what gh0stcloud costs.

How does billing work?

A fixed base fee of EUR 9.99 per month including VAT, plus infrastructure by actual usage, measured hourly. Both are paid from your credit balance. Managed operations and support are agreed separately, because they include responsibility for running things and not just access to the platform. The breakdown is on what gh0stcloud costs.

What happens if I want to leave?

You get back the application material and data covered by your contract. What that involves in practice depends on who owns the Git repository, what persistent data exists, and which managed services are in scope, so agree the details with us before you start rather than during.

Who handles platform upgrades?

We do. How much you hear about a given upgrade, and whether it needs anything from you, depends on your operating model and support agreement. Under Managed Applications we coordinate more of it with you directly.

How do I get started?

If you want to run the application yourself, create an account and work through the Start here pages. If you want us to operate it, or you need something outside the standard commercial scope, talk to us first.

Am I still in a trial?

The dashboard says so in one line: Trial means the account runs on its starting credit and nothing is owed. Topping up credit or setting up a payment method makes it a full account. Account phases explains every phase.

What do I owe right now?

Nothing, unless an invoice is open, and then the dashboard names the amount and the due date, and your credit balance is drawn on first. Credit, base fee and usage are on what gh0stcloud costs.

Why is my account restricted?

Because an invoice stayed unpaid for fourteen days. The workloads are stopped and the data is kept; paying every open invoice restores the account. Nothing is deleted. See disabled.
